Ken I had a looked at it . It has the bolsters and bone of a Heritage Schrade or the Red Bone Old Timer ( Schrade NY USA ) No shield but the blade of a later 80T.It looks like its a parts knife but should be still be a good knife.Any Old Timer with bone is a good knife.

Hi Grant,
All the best for 2013. The bolsters and bone look like a Heritage Schrade.
It is not a Red Bone Old Timer (Schrade NY USA) they do not have those bolsters.
Like you, I think it is a made up knife from parts; the blade is not from a Heritage knife.
Below is a Red Bone NY USA set... They were made in the 1980s...Ken

They actually sold them like this in the 1980's and 1990's. In both the brown box and sharp idea boxes. Both red and green ones were sold. How often and in how many numbers, no telling. This exact topic gets discussed several times a year in BladeForums. There are several variations. There is little doubt they are simply bone handled 8OT knives with the heritage bolsters and missing the shields. Not uncommon to see them circulating on eBay.

I picked one up from another collector a year or so ago; mine is in the same package as the one Hawk has - mine also has some very deep red bone. OH
