Up for sale is this CASE XX 5299-1/2 "A" blade.

Some of the nicest CASE stag I have seen. Deep grooved stag. Knife is is near mint condition. Unused, not carried or sharpened. Not professionally cleaned so it does have a few blade very fine scratches and some extremely minor spider marks starting. Could probably be polished out but that is up to the next owner. Not going there.

Given her minor flaws, still a rare knife with the "A" blade and the stag is unbelievable as I said.

Very solid action and snap to the blades including at half stop. Very audible crack on open and close of both blades. Mark side handle has a hairline crack from the bottom of the center pin to the liner. Pile side of mainblade has model stamp.

$500 plus shipping. PM me if interested. Thanks much for looking, Jerry

Here she is...

Price lowered to $450. Rare knife in prime condition. I have changed my mind on the coffin comment. Armored car as a hearse is no way to go.

Since you dug up an old thread, I might as well ask, what is an “A” blade? Never heard of that before.

The “A” blade was used during the TESTED XX era, and carried over into the XX era. At some point in the XX era there was a tooling change whereby the blade shape was modified. Thus some XX knives have the older blade shape, referred to by collectors as the “A” blade. The differences are subtle but the “A” blade has a slightly more curved clip point from above the nail nick to the blade’s tip, whereas the newer blade is straighter from the nail nick to the blade tip. The “A” blade is more scarce on a XX 5299-1/2 pattern.

Someone here can probably explain it better, and maybe show some pictures (I don’t have an “A” blade example). Maybe knifeaholic will see this and explain - he has a better “way with words”.

That’s a pretty good explanation to me Ken, thanks. Hopefully someone can put a comparison pic up.

So.... ::paranoid:: ... did this knife finally sell after 12.5 years? ::shrug::

Hey Donovan,

To my recollection, still have it. Didn't need to sell so I sat on it.
Price may have fluctuated but that is a personal discussion between you and I.

Talk soon. Jerry

Edit: Grammer correction on original post. And for the record, 12.5 years of not trying hard to sell it or needing to nor caring if I do. That simple.

Conclusion: ::hmm:: .... Knife* has still not sold after 12.5 years..... ::skeptic::

*Supplemental Observation: It really is a beautiful knife. Very attractive stag!
