All About Pocket Knives

I have hit the point where I need to sell some knives if I want to keep buying new ones.
I don't have enough room to display even a small portion of the ones, so I have decided to sell some, especially the ones I have multiples of.
I was going through some extra knives I had to put them in my store, and I found these two knives that shouldn't exist, but then again it is Schrade we are talking about!

The 825 is supposed to be the Western stockman, this obviously is not a stockman. It is a nice knife with beautiful grooved bolsters, but missing a blade.



And this one is not a stockman. On this knife I can still faintly see the remnants of the Razor Blade Stainless etch.
The RB series was introduced in in the 1964 catalog and last seen in the 1988 catalog.

After spending an hour and half going through catalogs I cannot find any listing of an 825 with only 2 blades!
All listings show a 3 bladed stockman pattern.

Does anyone know anything about these two knives and why they are missing the spey blades?

You probably used the spey blades for a repair and just forgot.

EXACTLY what I was thinking Jerry!

Those two-blade 825 knives were made as a contract knife for Norm Thompson Outfitters. I think they may have been a promotion item but not sure. They were illustrated in some old Outdoor Life magazines in the 1960s, I think.

Norm Thompson wanted a knife to sell at a certain price point, they liked the 825 style but the stockman price was too high. Eliminating one blade made it just right, and the K-77 was born.

Most people have seen the Norm Thompson Shikari, which is a variant of the 165OT. How many have seen the Yukon?

I had seen the Shikari before but I don't recall the Yukon.
That Yukon is a nice looking knife!

I should have made the connection to Norm Thompson on that K-77.
I think I have read that thread you linked to many years ago.

Norm Thompson had some store around Portland Oregon.
He started with handmade fishing flies and then got into all sorts of outfitters type items, guns, knives, fly rods, etc., all more toward the high end as I recall, eventually they shifted the products more toward apparel.

They relocated back East years ago and sort of fizzled out. I haven't heard of them in years.
It used to be THE place to go in the Northern Oregon area for exclusive outdoor sporting equipment, but they kind of faded from memory. In their hay day I bet they sold a lot of knives along with guns & fishing equipment.

K-77 jack and a couple cousins, the 893 and the 93OT I think the ad came from Outdoor Life
