All About Pocket Knives

Un-wrapped ,for the first time today********Here are some pictures of my finger,___ minus the "'TIP"" ____ Do Not--repeat--Do Not !!!!!!!,___try to close an automatic knife with one hand ____Sunday night,I pushed the little Protech Auto blade ,against the counter for a ""quick 1 hand closing""__that resulted in lost of my finger tip ____happen so fast,I didn't even feel it ____ I now believe,the Lansky Sharpening System,is one of the "'BEST"" ::nod::____________________Monk

Oh, yeah. That one's going to take a couple of days to heal up. I feel for ya Bud.

You need a bigger knife that your fingers don't over hang the edge.

Here's a thought, if ya need sutures get er done, if your like most of us hard headed men... A little cleaning with soap and warm water pat dry well then apply a little super glue to close the wound, cover with a dab of neosporin and wrap with clean gauze and tape.Should heal in about 2.5 weeks.Rocky

Oh, Monk! Have ya tried casting a line with that thing yet? The sound of the throbbing might add a little interest to your lures. I feel for ya bud!

Hey Rocky _____I cut it around 11:30 pm Sunday night___ finally went to the ER, from 1:45 am till 3:00 am., Monday morning, to get the bleeding to stop !!!!!!!! I tried the super glue__spray bandage__rubber band tourniquet , ice pack,and wrapped with gauze tricks at home, to no avail ____ Doc said, there was nothing to suture !!!!!____just this big empty spot,where my finger tip,use to be ___he put some kind of patch on the end,and wrapped the heck out of it,with the heavy gauze & tape *****___his advice when I left was ""stay away from shiney metal objects"" __________________________________just ain't gona' happin'


WB____No casting / reeling for a few weeks ??? or maybe a few days at least

MONK sorry buddy didn't know it happened last Sunday and failed to notice the flap of skin missing. Believe it or not if the "freshly" piece cut off is quickly reapplied with the use of a compression bandage, and the other items I mention it will reattach itself and reduce the healing time that you are now facing. I'm only saying this because you, like the fish you catch are attracted to shiney metal objects that have sharp pionts or edges. Shame ya live so far away, I have all the supplies and could have saved ya a trip to the ER. Rocky

Knives are like wives...if you don't pay attention, you'll pay dearly.

Monk If that knife was sharp enough it shouldn't hurt that bad LOL

I did something similar to that recently, but with a kitchen knife, and not quite as successful as you. Bled for quite a while, and kept me out of the shop for a bit.

I'm glad that is the extent of you injury, could've been worse I suppose. Get well soon!

Owwww ain't fergot how that stings I've done it to a thumb and two different fingers over the years--last time I did it jerkin the hide off a coon and just about took the pad off my right hand ring finger--that sucker bled for a week
