All About Pocket Knives

Got this old 11031 and figured I'd spruce it up a bit. Thuya scales, ez open and a good cleaning. I also shaved the "kick" down a little to give it more of a slim profile. I'd never heard of thuya wood until I stopped in the local exotic woods shop. I thought it turned out decent for a work knife. I'd like to try pin turning (I think that's the correct term) next time. I've never tried, any suggestions or home made type tools I should use?

sweet job. I think you'll find flush pins are much more comfortable for a working knife, easier on the pocket too. Really the only time I use domed pins anymore is on textured materials like stag and jigged bone, the rest of the time they are smooth.

Looks great! I did a Schrade 176 like that recently. It does look like it would sit quite slim in the pocket. Love the wood and the EO.

Looks nice. Jantz sells a spinning tool for about $14. Like MM said used mainly on bone. On all the wood handle reworks I've done I do flat pins, easier than spinnig and gives the knife a cleaner look IMHO.

I don't know flat pins. Is that like the rivets on a sodbuster?

peen to spread instead of peening a head then haft them smooth with the handle
