Fitting handles to a knife

If you are new to this there is no doubt you have encountered the problem of
fitting new handles to the knife you're working on. Here is a method so
simple that even I can do it and it works on slanted bolsters.
Before you begin clean the liner you'll be working on. Take care to remove
grit and debris built up against the bolster. Use a file or sand paper to
get this area clean. I'm working inside so the pics are staged. I hope you
can get the gist of this.
You'll need. an old playing card - a 3 x 5 card just isn't stiff enough,
super glue, and scissors.
Cut the card in half and position each end flush with the bolsters on each
end of the liner. Don't worry what the middle looks like, just make sure the liner is covered.
Raise the top card and put a drop of super glue on the bottom card and press
down hard on the top card to activate the glue. Use both hands while you are
doing this and make sure both cards remain tight against the bolsters.
While you are holding this trim the excess width from the card.
You have just created the perfect template that you can transfer to the
material you'll be working with and with just a little practice you'll have
the perfect fit.

I've found that the colored liner material often used under knife handles can serve the same purpose. It comes in different thicknesses, so I just use the thickest one.
