All About Pocket Knives

Got this at an antique store, never seen another before
Tang stamp is H G inside a circle, FRANCE on reverse tang
Small pen and scissors have a pull tab onstead of nail nick!
Any info appreciated, also missing toothpick? It has tweezers

Nice little knife! There was a thread on here awhile back that had one post linking a site of old French tang stamps.I forget who posted it but it enabled me to trace down an early mark on a knife I own.Can't remember who posted it either,may have been Jerry or TJ Murphy.I'll see if I can locate it.

I can help you with that,it is a "Gerard Hemonnot"France,a lot of them are handled in tortoise shell or mother of pearl.They make top of the line knives I'm sure you will be very happy with it.That is the first one I have saw with a "toothpick" or any other tools.All the ones I have seen have only 4 tools.
Not all French knives are Opinel's.LOL The french make very handsome knives.Cant help with age,sorry.

If you can find a copy of "KNIVES of the world"by Jean Noel Mouret it has 2 knives identical to yours on page 103 Made by GERARD HEMONNOT same knives with tabs and all but no 5th tool.Hope this helps

I don't think it is shell.The resign I say that is, it is illegal to import to the US.Try to Google the name I gave you and you may find away to buy parts for your knife.They are still making knives today.The book don't give any more information thin that.I hope you fiend what your looking for and good luck.It is a great knife.

Jody, I can't help you with the missing piece but I thought I fell into a time warp there for a minute. All these years later it is still a cool knife.

You have any idea what the original might have been made of?

If it were mine, I'd buy a toothpick from Wenger, Victorinox or another maker of Swiss utility knives and see if I could sand it down to a proper fit.
