All About Pocket Knives

Hello.
Just thought I'd share what myself and Ian Bailey made last weekend.
Loveless inspired slipjoint folder....2 1/2" blade of 80CrV2, 6" overall.
304 stainless fittings, with green canvas Micarta and red fibre liners.

Looks real nice Brian. I assume Ian is the primary maker. What involvement did you have with the knife? Is this a one-off thing, or do you have other work done with this maker?

I'd like to know more.

Hello glenn,
no both me and ian are the makers there isn't a primary maker in or joint knives, but as you can imagine ian is far superior to me at the grind.
To be honest i still Ian's apprentice.
i hope this helps on who done what:
Design and original drawing - Bri
Plastic template - Bri
Blade blank - Bri
Liners - Bri
Spring - Bri
Bolsters - Ian
Spring HT - Ian
Fitting pieces together and getting it all to work - joint effort...two damaged brains work better than just one.
Bolster soldering - Ian
Blade grind - Ian
Final fitting together - Bri
Peening pivot pin - Ian
Shaping handle - different grit sizes taken in turns
Final finish - Hand finishing with wet & dry taken in turns/grit sizes
Polishing - 1st mop, Bri. 2nd mop, Bri. 3rd mop Bri. 4th mop (the scary one), Ian.
Photos - Ian (with my shiny new camera and tripod)
While one is working, the other acts as barman/cigarette roller/tea boy.

Very nice. Good job gents. Project like that takes a special relationship to complete without shootin' each other.

we've worked together so long on our own knives in the same sheds it was a natuaral thing to try...but i sometimes think something less fiddly than a folder would of done the trick!!
