All About Pocket Knives

Other than some poor inexperienced soul has ruined it. I don't recall ever seeing one of these.

That knife is a variation of the H-15.
It might be a prototype, (doubtful) or something someone put together.
It has the maroon colored spacers found on the Craftsman version, with steel guard & butt cap; on the H-15 they were aluminum.
The leather ring handle has the different sized rings like a Camillus Jet Pilot knife.
The 9-3/4" overall length listed by the seller matches the size of the H-15.

Nice looking knife, with the exception of someone trying to remove the Parkerizing.

Here is the Schrade Walden version and the version made for Craftsman (Sears).
They were called "Bowie Hunters" and made from 1958-1975.

The knife you posted appears to be a Schrade Walden Pilot Survival Knife.

Mossdancer called me this yesterday and I was WRONG on this! It happens now and again

In 1952 the Navy Aeronautics Equipment Board designed a knife for testing to replace the Colonial Giant Jack.

Here is a drawing of the specs posted on Frank Trzaska’s website. Remember, this is in the days before the Jet Pilot’s Knife of 1957 (the knife basically designed by Marbles but produced by Camillus).

There were three companies who supplied the Pilot Survival Knife from about 1953-1957. The three were Imperial, Camillus and Schrade Walden. The nomenclature of this knife was MIL-K-8662(AER).

There are 3 known versions made by Imperial, 2 known versions from Camillus and Schrade Walden.

The knife Jerry posted is the Parkerized version made by Schrade Walden.
