I have a number of Schrade 4” knives; one I have been using since 1973, is an 881.
In my collection, I have some 8OTs that I do not see too often, an “8OT 100th Anniversary” that came in a tin –
Just like the “34OT 100th Anniversary” that also come in a tin, and sell on eBay from time to time.
The other 8OT, I have is an 8OTY in a late blue box. (any one have a year for that one?)
Post your Schrade 4” knives here; there must be so many different types of this Classic made by Schrade .
I also like the Buck 301 (4" knives) that Schrade made from 1966 to about 1970.

Here is a Schrade Walden 881 with red jigged bone handles.
The predecessor to the 881 was the Schrade Cut Co 8815 “Premium Stock knife, Texas pattern.” Schrade Walden keep the same name & changed the number to #881. Of course the 881 was the predecessor of the 8OT. This one has seen some use.

Here is a 4" Schrade Walden #787 Muskrat with bone handles-
Ken,
You might check the 77OT; according to the catalog they are only 3-7/8".
I measured one of mine and it was 3-7/8".
That is strange because I have always understood the 787 was the predecessor of the 77OT.
I wonder why they shave off 1/8" from the length?

Just checked,
they are under 4", looks about 3.0953" close to 4" for a pocket knife.
Keep posting your 4" knives; give-or-take an 1/8 inch... Ken

Thank you for the compliments on my Schrades. The one shown (a second variation) is my only Schrade-Buck; I'm on the lookout for the first version with the grooved bolsters (I have seen you post a very nice example). Most of my Buck 300 series knives were built by Camillus. OH
Ps, here is one you may know something about - it is a 4" Imperial - Frontier; I have read that some of these knives could have been built by Schrade. What do you think? Thanks, OH

I know nothing about the Imperial-Frontier. I donot know why! I donot have one in my collection.
I have spent a lot of time and money on my 2000 to 2004 collection over the last 3 years.
I would like one of those 8OT Red bone knives.
Here is some of my Bucks 301 knives, made by Schrade. I like them... KG

Wow Ken, you have quite a collection of the 4" Schrades.
OH,
Funny story on the Frontier series; there were three companies responsible for making the Frontier series.
As you might expect Imperial made some, of that I have no doubt.
Here is evidence that Camillus made at least a couple of the Frontier patterns-
Both of these knives are made in 1984, the year after Albert Baer became the sole owner of Imperial.
I have seen some of the Frontier knives with the Swinden construction that could only have been made at the Schrade factory;
Schrade was the only company with the Swinden machinery.
Some where I have a picture of a Frontier in pieces with the Swinden key in it, I just can't find it at the moment.

You guys are overwhelming with all your wonderful Schrade knives!
Mystery solved - the Craftsman-Sears 100th anniversary knife is NOT a Schrade - on close inspection it has a visible pin when the bolster is fogged and rolled in the light. On the other hand the Frontier 4434 has NO pin that I can find - making it of Swinden key, and thus Schrade, construction. Very good; two more of my knives properly categorized. OH

If you have a 4435, 4" Frontier hardwood stockman it may be made Schrade as well.
The 4435 was made until 1985, 2 years after Albert Baer became the sole owner of Imperial.

Dogg, I think the Craftsman is a Camillus; I compared it to a circa 1990 4" Camillus brand Stockman I own - the liners, springs, and bolsters are virtually identical - only difference between the two knives are the handles and the swedge on the Craftsman clip blade (none on the Camillus brand knife). OH
Ps. Dale, I just pulled an Imperial Frontier 4131 out of the drawer, (a 3-3/8" Stockman) - it also seems to be a Schrade due to being of Swinden design (damn, the plot thickens - Schrade-Imperial-Camillus "who made what" should be a mystery novel).
