All About Pocket Knives

Howdy

My name is Scott and I have been an uninformed collector of Pocket knives since I was 7. Bought my first knife at K-Mart for $2...a Toothpick/fish scaler with White scales...Mom took it away 2 days later when she caught me trying to flip it and stick it in the grass in the yard....never saw that knife again....

I found this site about a week ago and have been lurking and learning and thought it was time I said, "Howdy!"

Welcome Scott. As a newbie here myself I can tell you that there are great folks here willing and able to help you learn. BUT...BEWARE! They are several here that exert a tremendous amount of "bad" influence by posting photos of their newest acquisitions and as a result you will find yourself justifying "just one more" to add to the collection.

I have already been "Influenced"...there are so many great photos of great knives. This site is also taking up most of my computer browsing time....that friends is a good thing as my other interests are vintage guitars, guns, and hot rods. I have always loved knives...but I have been missing out on the collecting part....

I will get some photos put together and posted.

These are my Spydercos...The middle one was my daily carry while I was a Patrol Cop, my wife gave it to me the day I graduated the academy...Spyderco discontinued this model and it is retired with some other momentos of my road days...The knife was and is a work horse...but so sentimental that I am afraid if I carry it, it might get misplaced.

The small one on the left gets carried a couple of days a week, I am in plain clothes now and it fits better with my slacks.

The Delica is a weekend/woods/hills carry it is a work horse.

The one on the right is an Endura, with a twist...the pin that rotates off the heel is a Glock Armorers tool...I have been a Glock Armorer for 16 years...they also discontinued this knife...why do they do that...any way...more to follow.

These are some of the "Too big Pocket Knives" The one on the left is a Craftsman by Schrade...I have had this knife longer than any knife I own....got it for my 14th Birthday...that is the origional belt scabbord. The Buck 110 and the Old Timer were gifts from a friend/gunshow buddy.


These are the ones I have had a while too...the Old Timer stockman was a gift for my highschool graduation...the main blade tip was broken and reformed by me, the emblem is gone and this knife has lost its snap...all three blades are droopy (it lives in my sock drawer. The Old Timer Trapper I bought when I was 25 and I paid $14...its got great blades, but even though I never carried this knife, it has never had much snap...it is my "pipe knife" and I keep it with my pipe stuff. The Barlow is a "Colonial" and has been with me a while...found it on a gunshow table and gave the guy $3 at a time when I couldn't afford a gun, but didn't want to leave the show empty handed....I have always thought maybe someday it should have new scales...it is a very tight knife...lots of snap and keeps a good edge.

Thats enough for now...I have posted pics of some of my new finds...I'll post my fixed blade knives in that forum.

So not very many, but I have knives that work, ones that I like and ones that have lots of sentimental value.
