Nice stag reproduction NYK. Made by Schrade. Nice stag well fitted high quality knife.
I also picked the Trapper of this series, forgot to scan it. To late now it is locked up
for my Grandson. Both pictures should enlarge.

woseyjales, Nice scout knife, it appears it was made in 1985. Is that
correct?

Woseyjales,
That knife was made by Schrade as well as Camillus. I have documentation signed by Henry Baer himself directing the folks to cease production of the knife and shift all production over to Camillus. The real question I have is....Why?. Unfortunately I don't have that answer.
If you're interested, I'd be more than happy to dig that letter out of my files and send you a scanned copy.

Chase, since the registration card says mail to Schrade
I'll haphazard a guess it was made by Schrade.
Interesting to hear of the Camillus connection, thanks
for the offer but no need to scan letter.
Stockman, the BSA 75th anniversary year was 1985 but I wouldn't
assume knife made that year. Probably required some lead time ya
know so probably 1984 actual production? Late '83??

If you can see the pivot pins then it was most likely made by Camillus.
If it is Swinden construction without pivot pins, then it would be made by Schrade, (or else the pins are set so well & polished that you can't see them).

Woseyjales,
I wasn't questioning that your knife was made by Schrade. I only stated that production of the knife by Schrade ceased at one point as directed, by Henry Baer, to shift all production going forward to Camillus.
I still am not sure why that happened unless Schrade had something else that required their focus at the time. Unfortunately there was no explanation in the correspondence that Mr. Baer sent to the Schrade plant.
Just letting you know that the knife was also available, made by Camillus.
I hope I didn't offend you.

Tom, that was the same time that the Schrade and Imperial companies were merged under Albert Baers (new) ownership into one company. I'm sure they had their hands full down there, Camillus likely took on a lot of work at that time until things were settled. Also, from what I've seen the Schrade plant had quite a large backlog of orders as well during that period. If you wouldn't mind shooting me a shot of that memo I'd sure appreciate it, always like seeing that behind the scenes banter. I'll see if I have anything laying around that pertains to that as well.

This is turning into a neat thread. Hello big monk I also have boxes and
the paper. I am getting a knife a year for my Grandson so far all were new
Case. I found these NYK knives for $30.00 each don't have a clue what they
are worth but can't be hurt much at that price. Plus my Grandboy now
has a stag knife.
