Camillus #72 Customized

Here is a Camillus #72 that underwent cosmetic surgery in my shop.
This is what it looked like when I started:
This is what it looked like after I finished:
File work on the inside of the knife used to be popular, so I thought I would give it a try.
I didn't file work the outside because I think it would weaken the spring for the secondary blades.
It does sort of light up the inside of the knife.
Now I see I neglected to get a pic of the mark side with blades open, I will add that later.
The bone is Bamboo colored with Catalina jigging. I think it comes as close to Rogers bone as any modern jigged bone I have seen.

Very good Dale .I like the bone and the file work and cosmetic surgery on a Camillus 72 makes it even better.

Excellent Dale. I like the file work in the blade well and the threaded bolsters also add a touch of class. Those new handles are perfect for that knife.

Gorgeous work!
You taking orders?

I have an old used -72 in about the same condition as yours started out.

Red,
Actually I will be taking orders for repairs & custom work starting in mid-August.
I intend to start working on the orders at the end of August, (a couple weeks to order handles, etc).
I have found that while my new left knee is great, my old right knee is weakened from many years of walking with a limp. I am endeavoring to strengthen it with physical therapy and exercise.
I am also rearranging my shop so I don't have to stand as much, which should help some as well. I decided to take the summer off from knife work except some I want to do for myself, so there is no pressure.
My wife & I have 16 grandkids and they all like to come spend time with us in the summer. They won't all be coming for a stay, but several will. A couple granddaughters will be here most of the summer.
Hopefully at the end of August my knee will be strong enough I can put in several hours in the shop without having to lay down or sit in the recliner every hour or so. I think I need to take it easy on the knees for a few more weeks, and hopefully sneak down to the river and catch a few bass!
Save your knives up for the end of summer for
R & R (repair & rehab).

For those of you who like that bone color & pattern, please note I just corrected it on the original post.
The actual bone I used was Bamboo colored with the Catalina jigging pattern.
My apologies,
Dale

That's another beauty, Dale! Those 72's dress up real nice with some good jigged bone. The filework in the well is a nice touch.
Great work!
