All About Pocket Knives

I have decided I would like to try my hand at Knife repair again. I tired it about 6 years ago, did a few small projects, nothing great but it was a fun thing to do. My brother approached me about trying it again. The thing is, he is really big into rock polishing, cabochons, etc... So we thought HEY! Let's try to combine our two hobbies together. So now that there is a bit of back story there, I was looking for a little bit of info/advise for he and I.

I found after reading it thinking, I like the look of pins in a scale. So I was wondering if anybody on here has any experience with working with stone? If so would doing pins in a project, be a nightmare or is it a doable thing? I know that it is usually the builder/fixers call ( unless it isn't your knife ) on how it is done, but lets face it some things look much better on paper! So if they need to be glued on great, if having pins isn't going to make me want to rip all my hair out, I would rather do that.

I think I would rather give myself an appendectomy than try to pin stone, but maybe that's just me.

A friend carried a knife (a Case trapper, I think, but it has been a long time since I saw it) that he had re-worked with Wyoming jade handles. He cheated though, and set the stone in bezels soldered on the liners. He did a good job, it lasted him at least 20 years, and for all I know is still in service with his son.

Hey Dan___you are in ""LUCK""____Mike Hoover is the ""BEST"" ,------I have ever seen at the stone work knives, and he put a step by step tutorial on the AAPK site,some years ago !!!!!!
