All About Pocket Knives

I got this schrade 136 in the mail this morning from a fellow who wanted it rebuilt. I love working on these old schrade hawks. I cleaned and reshaped the blade, fileworked the backspring with a modified vine pattern, and rehandled it in bookmatched bloodwood. Hope he likes it.

MM. I think it would be safe to assume your client will be very happy.

Folks, I believe we are witnessing the development of a great custom knife maker right before our very eyes.

That filework ranks right up there with the best of them. You have amazing tallent young man.

The whole knife looks great. You can can only really appreciate the difficulty of the file work if you have tried to do some.

Outstanding job on bringing the blade back also. That too is harder than it looks.

MM...sorry to break the news to you, but the finished results of this latest rebuild are just not good enough!

In fact, I think they are so bad, you should be embarassed to send that to a client. BUT you are in luck, I have a nice dark drawer that you can hide that "ugly betty" in. Feel free to forward it to me in a brown paper wrapped package....wouldn't want anyone to know it was from you...

Thanks for all the kind words. This was my first time working with blood wood. It surprised me when I started working it, fairly soft; a medium wood like walnut, but less porus. Finishes down really smooth though, with no buffing needed.

Fantastic work mm, that is quite the knife now.

Yup pers your true color is coming to the suffice.
Just as it does when hard working artist (like your self) fellow their talent.
Remember to try to keep the EYES flowing like you did so well on this one.
The color keeps my eyes flowing here very well.
That file work does the same thing to my eyes. Nice soft curves keep me coming back.
I am sure that your shelf on jobs to do for your customers will soon be backing up. Let them back up too. Take your time on each step like you have been. Stay with your thoughts, (I want it to look right.) Is better than I have to hurry the customer wants it right now.

I think all the workers at the old Schrade factory would have opened their door to have YOU on their team.
Per haps you could fill out a job application at GE?

Thanks guys it's much appriciated. It would be neat to work for a knife co. Like GE or CS, or even schrade before they went under. But to be honest, I wouldn't trade what I do now for the best factory job around, I just love it too much
