All About Pocket Knives

Both were made in a class taught by David Lisch. The first one was made in his "Introductory to Knife making". I took this class this past March and it lasted two days. We used nothing but the stock removal technique. We started out with a blank of 1095 and made either a skinner, drop point hunter or a chef's knife. I made the skinner. The second one I made today in David's class called "Shop rat" where you make a hand forged shop knife and add a rat's tail. The steel used is 1080. TBH, this is the one I'm most proud of, blisters on my hand and all......

Awesome little knife you made there Mountain Man not bad for a days work... eh? Looks like there's a real rat tail down there on the floor I wish My Ma and Pa would have put me through knife college but not so lucky... There's a guy up in Oregon who I would like to attend classes with but I think that they are several days long. I can't remember his name but he learned sword making in japan and has a sharpening service all done by hand on Japanese whet stones. He is one of the few guys I would consider sending high dollar scissors to for sharpening as he was taught by some of the best and is a High end Japanese scissor distributor... You should look him up and check out some of his videos...
