The thing that amazes me, is the snap on this knife, as Charlie says, it is like a bear trap
should I do anything with the wood. like wood oil, sure I don't want to wax it
I used some Murphy wood soap and a little old english on it
looks like 1900 -1916

Nice knife, I'm big fan of robeson knives. I use a little lemon oil on my knives it seems to work good for me.

That's a nice older knife.
Is there a pattern number?
I'm not sure if the master blade is way down or was always a sheepfoot.

thanks FRJ
Charlie, that tang stamp is on the smaller blade
the only thing I can make out on the main is cu in the middle of the tang
could be ou or part of some number, anything I can do to bring out any more?
I have not touched it much, soaked in oil , cleaned out blade well with scubby pad and pipe cleaners, then blew it out with air

Great old find Mick! Goins dates that tang from 1896-1922
Very cool!

thanks Gino, I am learning from the best
I have Goins Encyclopedia 1998, Stewards most recent without Richie,Sargents 3rd edition
my go to books are Price and Zalesky 15th edition and Voyles 2d edition
also just got Tom Kalcevics new book and other web sites and forums
this is my 'home' now and Charlie's Robesonrme and tom's web site are just perfection , like some of these pocket knives
the illustration of tang stamps at RobesonsRme.com is where I got the date of 1900-1910
I am looking at the Goins book now so maybe a curve and a arch is different
My tang stamps are on the smaller blade, not much to make out on the main blade, and I could be reading the dates under or over the illistrations on Charlie's site wrong
it is all good, like a mystery, keeping me so interested and out of trouble, as long as I can stop buying for now

You cannot date a Robeson knife based on the tang stamp on a secondary blade.
Anything you've read from me, Goins or Kalcevic is meaningless if all you have is a secondary stamp.
