All About Pocket Knives

Just out of curiosity I bought this all metal Okapi for a mere four Euros. The stamp on the balde still says "Made in Germany" and it is supposed to be made in the 1970ies (NOS).
Well, what can I say? It´s a mess!

Found another one! Again it´s "Made in Germany" so I assume it´s from the seventies. The condition makes it definitely new old stock.
It´s a cheapo nevertheless...

They're all cheapies. I'm glad I saw those. I was under the impression this pattern was the only one they made. This one is of course, after they moved to South Africa.

Those Okapis are new to me too Jerry. I guess I´ll have to get myself one of those south african ones too to complete the collection...

After quite a while I stumbled over this german made Okapi. I suppose this is their best known version which was build in South Africa after they closed their door in Solingen in 1987. This knife has the "Made in Germany" stamp and the handle is made from Okapis compressed wood, whis was another branch of their business.
It seems that I become a little obsessed with this little cheapos.......

No lock on the blade Skipper?

No Jerry, this one is a slip joint. It looks original to me as well....

Oh Lordy, I can´t stop! I even went out of my way pricewise when I saw this fake switch blade. The other one is the classic version which I´ve got cheap again. It´s condition leaves a lot to be desired though. A while ago a large lot of rusty NOS Okapis was on sale on the German Ebay and I suppose it´s one of them.

Ok, I swear I will stick to the "Made in Germany" ones....

Not too recently, this pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. However, it did get added to my general, "foreign born" pocket knife accumulation. It is an OKAPI, one blade, one blade stamp, 4" closed (not including the bail), pocket knife. The blade front stamp (WORN) says, "OKAPI (over) MADE IN GERMANY" The blade does have a WEAK half stop. The blade does have a WEAK opening snap. The blade does have a GOOD closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in FAIR condition. I did have to clean it up a little. I took some pictures and here it is.

I have one of the shell puller models. The late World Knives had them. I bought it because it was so different.
