Did Schrade make a Cattle Knife with French Ivory Celluloid and steer head in the Cell?
I know they made some for others, but one with the Schrade tang stamp.

Harold,
I assume you are speaking of Schrade Cut Co, correct?

Cal might know the answer to that; he might even have a couple. ::nod::

There is no mention in the old extant catalogs (via the 1971 reprints by A.G. Russell) of one of those cattle knives with the steer head but here is a cut of one specifically available in ivory celluloid. There are other cattle knives mentioned elsewhere in the catalogs with "assorted" celluloid handles, and I suspect some in "ivory" were marketed. Winchester sold one with the steer head, and I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that Winchester made the knife. This is all that I know on this subject.

What you're describing is very much like this Winchester 3009. This old fella has French Ivory handles. Maybe this was made by Schrade Cut Co?????

Redtrout, could you show another pic of the tang stamp? I can't seem to get a good look at it. Thanks!

Judging by the appearance of the blade grinds, I believe it possible that particular example MAY have been made by Ulster or Imperial.
