Making a Bowie. Steps showing guard, handle and sheath.
440C stainless steel. Ivory handle with water buffalo horn and nickle silver, black vulcanized fiber spacers.
Sheath made of aromatic cedar wrapped with ray skin and trimmed with nickle silver.
This knife was contracted and purchased as a gift. The buyer told me to "make a Bowie Knife" and that was my only instruction. I don't make many knives but I love it when I get to do what I want. This was the second time I made a sheath similar to this. Easier than the first time but still not too fluent with it. All trial and error.

Haven't made any folders in several years but here are pics of a few I made some years ago. Hope to get busy with it this winter if I can make time. Most my folders have been traditional knives since that is where my interest is. All the shields are handmade and pinned on. Bone handles on the two folders pictured together was hand jigged and dyed from raw white bovine bone. The single blades that look like they might be autos are autos. The picture qualities aren't the best.

Thanks for the compliment. I retired from my regular job but not knife making. I go through periods of making knives but will be away from it until next year. I always enjoy the process though.
