While mowing the grass a month or so ago, I came across this cocoon, always being a bug nut, I confirmed it was a butterfly or moth and brought it in the house. Yesterday after coming in from a night sitting around the campfire, there is this GIANT Polyphemus moth hanging on the screen in my bedroom window. We awed over it and only after about 5 minutes of looking at it did it hit me, it had hatched from the cocoon! I went back into my room and found the cocoon where I had left it on my shelf of goodies with a nice clean hole bored right in the end of it. The pictures taken outside were taken this morning; he was still hanging there resting when I came in from yard work this evening. Pretty cool I thought. Anyway I thought you might enjoy seeing it.

P.S, ten points to the person who can identify the majority of the items on my shelf of goodies :D
