Knife from India

I received this knife as a birthday present from my mother in-law. A family member was stationed in India during the Korean conflict in the early 1950's and brought this home. I never met the man who brought it home. If anyone does happen to know anything about what this is and what it was used for, I would be grateful to learn. Also, I would be grateful for any advice on cleaning the blade.

Last year she gave me a WWII German knife that was brought home by a soldier who served in WWII. I wonder what I will get next year!

Interesting knife! At first I thought it might be a tourist item(and it is possible that it is)but it looks a bit better than the average tourist piece from that era.I did a cursory search through Levine's book and the closest thing to it was a Turkish dagger.
