All About Pocket Knives

I picked this one up today. The tang stamp is very faint, but I think I see Brantford Cutlery Co in a half circle. Then across the bottom in straight line "Warrented". I know that company used the motto Warrented Never Dull, so am assuming the never dull is hidden under the bolster. I understand if the above is true this knife may date to about 1900. Can anyone confirm or correct me on this?

I thought the same thing at first, but the word below starts with "WAR...." That doesn't fit with Hartford. It does fit with Brantford since their motto was WARRANTED NEVER DULL. I don't know but I feel it is more likely Brantford than Hartford.

Thanks, Miller Bro. That box shows a Hartford might well have the word "Warrented" in the stamp. So now I'm not so sure of the "Brantford" I.D. Only thing I can say is I have the advantage of seeing the actual knife and that is better than the pic which is pretty good. I looked long and hard at that stamp and it could be either one. I still lean toward thinking the first letters look more like BRAN.... than HART. There also seems to be space for one more letter BRANT than the four Letter HART. But bottom line I can't be sure unless someone knows more about the style. For instance which one used the name in a half circle format? (Hopefully, not both)

Here's a clean HARTFORD tang stamp to compare to yours.

The pic clearly shows the word HARTFORD. See the A is before the R? Not after it?

Thanks for the Hartford stamp, Murphy. It looks nothing like the stamp on my knife. I gotta have more solid proof that mine isn't a Brantford. And don't get me wrong I'm not familiar with Brantford and have no reason to wish it was one rather than a Hartford. I just want to know for sure what I have.

Look at the knife. That does not have the appearance of a circa 1900 knife.
And I pretty much clearly read "Hartford" on the tang of the knife in question.
All the wishin' and hopin' you're doing is not going to turn a Hartford into a Brantford.

Here's a real Brantford Cutlery Co knife guys! I've heard that Brantford may have made for Butler Bros. around 1910 to 1930. Great knife, goodsnap,walk and talk. No cracks in the bone scales. That's all i can find out. Nothing else, not even any values. Can anyone help me please?

Here is a one-page catalog sheet. I have no idea where it originated or the date. Based on examples that I have seen and owned, I think the Brantford pocket knives were made by Camillus circa 1910 to 1920's.

That tang says Hartford.

I am confident that Camillus did make some knives with the Brantford stamp. This "have had" whittler showed no signs of being apart for repair, the master also has the 4 line Camillus mark. Easy for a cutler to install an identical, except for the mark, blade.

Sure made a nice knife to carry and use.. not so much to collect
