I've never heard of any of you comment on the Remington Posters. Just wondering if any of you collect them? I currently have three. We're having them mounted, matted and I'm going to make the frames from some weather-worn barn wood I've accumulated. I'm also going to make a small box at the bottom of the frame that will hold the knife. You'll be able to open the box and take the knife out and fondle it. I really appreciate the imagination of L.W. Duke's artwork. The story I heard was, Remington commissioned him to paint the original artwork from which the posters were to be made, but gave him instructions that there was to be no "blood and guts" kind of stuff, so he always portrayed the knives being used in some sort of "harrowing situation", usually portraying the same two old guys.
Here's a photo of the first one we're working on. I also have the rifle portrayed in the photo....a Remington model 81 in .300 Savage that we're going to hang along side the finished artwork. It should make a very interesting conversation piece in the new great room were adding on this summer.
