Robeson Razors

The first Robeson knives were imported by Millard Robeson from England and Germany exclusively. This continued from 1979 until 1896 when Robeson began manufacturing knives in the United States. Since inception, the company has gone through several reorganizations & eventually ended up as a Queen Cutlery brand.

Thanks Joe!

This is not your typical Rogers bone, however I do not know where Robeson bought their jigged bone from at the time. It is Robeson`s own jigging design with the attractive "worm grooves".

Nice razors M.B. and robinetn.

Here a 3 very different Robeson razors.

A small early Millard F. Robeson etched "OUR PET", stamped Premier on the reverse tang.

An early very heavy 1" blade marked "THE ROBESON CUTLERY CO. ROCHESTER N.Y."

A rope twist celluloid marked "THE ROBESON CUTLERY CO. ROCHESTER N.Y." with HAND MADE banner etch.

Beautiful Robeson razors, everyone, and a good topic for this forum. Thanks, Dimitri, for starting it.

Wayne, is your M. F. Robeson marked "OUR PET" razor also marked, "GERMANY" anywhere?

Charlie,

No it doesn't have a "Germany" mark anywhere. Weren't most of the M.F. Robeson OUR PET razors German made?

I don't know if I should start posting Robeson made razors here or not.

Most of mine are already posted in the Straight Razor Collectors forum.

I have acquired a few more since that posting, and I have saved a good many Ebay photographs of nice razors that I thought a worthy collectible.

Thanks everyone. Give me some time to gather all the photos and arrange them into some orderly grouping.

Unfortunately, we will not be coming to Dalton.

Here are Robeson razors that I actually own.

I tend to shy away from plain black or white handled razors unless the blades have an etch or the razors are from the early pre-1900 time frame.

The first three are pre-1900 razors. Two of them are from Germany, one is not. Without pulling them out of storage I am not going to be able to recall which are which, but I think the third one, etched, "Robeson's Best" is not from Germany, but made by The Sherwood Cutlery in Camillus, New York. It is marked "PREMIER".

The first two are marked, M.F. ROBESON.

The rest will be just nice razors with either a fancy handle, a nice etch or both.

I think most of the photos will expand.

Enjoy.

This is a very nice "ShurEdge" etched, pearl tang covered razor I traded for at the Oregon Knife Collectors Association show in Eugene in 2001.

It was the only thing I bought at that show.

The only Robeson knives in the building were on my display tables.

These are Robeson made razors, but they are marked Terrier Cutlery Co / Rochester, N.Y..

Robeson manufactured and marketed Terrier cutlery products from 1910 until 1916.
