What it's all about

This is what it's all about for me. I got an email requesting some work on a peanut, with a close deadline. I knew if I waited on it and put it behind the other half dozen or so knives I have backed up that it would not be ready in time for the customer to give it as a gift. So I chose to work on my off days this weekend. This is what it's all about for me, relaxing shaping of those figured desert ironwood scales, watching more figure pop out as you get to the finer grits, meticulous filework on those tiny little peanut springs, tuning so everything lines up as nice as possible, and that final polish on the buffer, letting you know you peened those heads tight enough and you removed all the deep scratches when everything polishes down as smooth as silk.
And in the end, the best part of all is getting the email letting you know they recieved it and it met thier expectations.
