Why is the 34OT missing from Schrade caterlogs until 1964.

What did the first 34OT look like? Did it have bone handles?
Dose anyone have a 1964 34OT? They are listed as coming in a box - what box did they come in?
Why did Schrade take until 1961(SW161-J) to list the 8OT and 108OT? Why no 34OT?
Why did Schrade take until 1964 to list a range of knives they named Old Times?

I have been told the first 8OT had bone handles. However, Schrade was still listing 8OT as "also in Bone" in 1964.
Questions, questions! ::dang:: ::dang::

I am not sure we are looking at the same set of catalogs, Ken. I have been perusing those at http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/. You may wish to look at them. :wink:

The earliest catalog listing or flyer for the 34OT was in 1964.
This is the earliest flyer I have:
SW-64-1.jpg

It says the handles are Meerschaum bone, which I believe was Schrade Walden's early name for Delrin.
I do not recall seeing one in the brown wood grain box, bur someone here probably has one.

Thank You Dale, the price list indicates the 3OTs were sold "in a Box". They must have been sold later in the tube (like thawk's) , still showing the "Schrade Walden" tang stamp. I have some 933 Old Timer Primble knives in that same hinged box. The earliest 34OT I have, is in a wood grain box with the removal box top. When did the tang stamp changed to "N.Y. U.S.A."?

The price on the Primble 933 boxes. is $4.98...Ken.

1973-1974 It was changed to Schrade N.Y. U.S.A. Walden was dropped. Stamp for the pattern was moved to the front.
