All About Pocket Knives

I'll be damned if this beauty won't sell on ebay.....

So, with my recent experiences in editing/tweaking "ugly" stained, chipped fixed blade knives....I thought why not try it with a perfectly good knife? Hack a couple inches off, and reprofile a new tip!

Your thoughts?

Before reprofiling the blade I would check my local woodworking store and see if they have some nice pieces of hardwood in their scrap bin. Often they will sell scraps for a fraction of the price and some even have a scrap bin with free scrap wood. I have found lots of nice pieces of wood in such places.
You just might find a piece of beautiful wood large enough to replace the handle at little or no cost.
A little sandpaper and a little finish and you will have a beautiful knife may very well sell on ebay.

Not quite that gifted Dale......I do appreciate the thought tho!

Gifted as in making precise holes, and rivots to fit perfectly tight......yeah, not equipped for that.

I might just take some sandpaper to the handle as it is right now, but still leaning towards busitng off part of the blade.....

Scott maybe you need to customize the price instead of the blade ????

Don't feel bad Scott I have a set of marked Case steak knives with the original wooden holder in nice shape and couldn't sell it, I still have it around here somewhere. I wouldn't touch that one other than maybe treat the handle with some lemon oil a few or dozen times

Scott, I don't think you would gain much in the process but it's your knife and if that is what you want to do go for it. If it were mine I'd use it, you'd be hard pressed to find a better user for $10.

I'd definitely use it Wayne....buit no clue on what. We don't host guests at our little condo so
we'd never cut a roast or ham or turkey......

With that great swedge and saber ground blade I don't see a rosy future for that knife if you mod it. My suggestion is leave it alone, put it in your store and be patient.

I think you should just throw it away...as is....in MY trash can.
I bought one just like it at a yard sale for a couple of dollars a few years ago. My wife had it in her kitchen knife drawer before I could get the masking tape price tag off it. She loves it and uses it for cutting up veggies, they're great knives!
Not sure what could be gained by modding it, still the same knife, just shorter. To each their own though, good luck whatever you decide.

At 13+ inches that knife is practically a small sword. If no Case knife-purists are interested and you really are ready to part with it, I say stick it in a black kydex sheath, spray paint the handle black and advertise it as a "close-quarters tactical stealth-combat short sword." I wouldn't be surprised if that garners interest from the pseudo-Ninja warrior wannabes. You'd be surprised at how much those types are willing to pay for something like that. It's all about the marketing.

Or maybe you could advertise it in a different category, there's probably a Renaissance Faire medieval coat-of-arms artist or re-enactor who could find a way to incorporate something like that with a little modification...again, it's all about finding the right demographic...and apparently, the one you thought it would appeal to most isn't interested, even for $10.

Just some thoughts...

I have noticed that Case stainless steel kitchen knives really don't bring as much as a good old carbon steel kitchen knife.
I pretty much avoid them unless I can buy them for a dollar or two, and then I usually give them away.

Heading to my buddy Philip ......he asked if he could but it before I turned it into a survival knife.

Althoughj it may have made a good bush whacking (can't think of the word I really want....) knife.
