All About Pocket Knives

Does anyone have one of these? Has anyone ever seen one of these? I got this stock photo off of the Schrade website archives, 2004. It doesn't appear in any of the advertisements for the CBC knives that I've seen. And notice that it doesn't have the Schrade Walden tang stamp like the others do. Just wondered if they ever left the factory. CUZ I WANT ONE!

It seems that there must have been two releases of the "Cigar Box Classics", one in green bone and one in brown bone. There is a little talk here: http://allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_f ... 64&t=44301 but I don't think it will be very helpful. The Schrade guys will be along later and may be of some help. Very pretty knives.

I have 2 of the trappers and a premium stockman with the shields and serial #'s
One peanut with a Schrade+ blade and one with a Schrade Walden blade, a trapperand a muskrat, without shields or serial #'s. Beautiful bone.

Looking at the 2 peanuts a little more closely, I imagine that the one with the Schrade+ blade is an Old Timer Classic missing it's shield. The U.S.A. LTD. in the second line of the tang stamp is what I'm basing my guess on.

Collecting Schrades is a humbling experience. So much to learn and very little of it supportable by written documentation. Sure does keep it interesting though. If it looks good to the eye and feels good in my hand, that's good enough.

I have the two blade trapper in brown bone with ringed bolsters without shield. SCHRADE +U.S.A.LTD stamp. Schrade Super Sharp blade etch. Got at flee market about 10 miles north of Ellenville. Beautiful knife .Think I paid $20. about 5 years ago. Its a keeper.

Sounds like what you have is a Tennessee River Trapper because of the blade etch. Similar to the CBC and very nice knives indeed. And a real good deal at that price! They were special order knives by Walmart. That's where I got my first one.

Thanks for the info. I live about 20 miles from the schrade Ellenville plant and and every now an than I run into bargin pieces from former schrade workers.

That TRT is a great looking knife. Beautiful bone handles. Sure wish I ran into knives like that. I live about 10 miles from the Buck factory and don't even find them.
I heard that the plant was being torn down. Is there any chance you have some pictures of the place that you could share?

I just picked up what might be considered an original Cigar Box Classic. Maybe where Schrade got the idea for the CBC. It's a Schrade Walden 825 stainless with bone scales and the same shield. Thanks to one other bidder that knew what this knife is, I had to pay-up to get this one.

That's a beauty. .I've never seen one..I'd have bid the heck out of it too.

I wondered if you were still up and awake. Yeah, I wanted this one real bad. My max bid in the last few seconds of the auction showed I had the winning bid at $33 and change. I held my breath as the last couple seconds counted down and it ended. I started to jump out of my seat when the final bid showed up at the end and it was 30 bucks more. Someone snuck a last second bid in there so close to the end that it didn't show until it was over. But...I was prepared to pay that much and a little more, so I'm pretty happy. I have never seen one before either. I have started to polish it up since those auction pics I posted. The bolsters are shinning up real good. I still haven't got around to getting a new Dremel tool yet, but when I do, I will slick up the bolsters and spine a little more. It has those grooved brass liners on the spine. The spots on the shield came right off and it shines pretty nice too.

That bidding at the last second sounds like something I'd have done. I'm glad I wasn't bidding against you, I'd hate to think how high it might have gone for.
