I finished this one recently. The owner didn't like the stock covers, said they reminded him of peanut butter. I reworked it with some new bone and a shield.

That's beautiful Glenn.

Is that shield off of another knife or did you make it? cheers

Nice rework Glenn!
I agree with the owner, the old handles look like peanut butter gone bad!
The new bone & shield makes it look MUCH better! You changed it from a 1 to a 10!
I would carry that myself even though I am not a big canoe fan.

Glenn you've done your usual excellent work. The finished product is great.
I must be the only one who likes those original scales. Not to say what you did isn't an improvement because it obviously is, but I liked it before too.

Great job, Glenn! What's the color and jigging called on that one? (I'm assuming it came from Culpepper's?)

I think it was mahogany, but i don't remember the jig offhand. I might have it written down somewhere on the order sheet, it is a great pattern.

Thanks Glenn, I think so too.
The pics on the Culpepper site are usually of the full slabs, it's nice to see the different colors and patterns on a finished knife to get a better idea of how they look after hafting.
I've thought in the past of starting a thread showcasing the different Culpepper bones, after hafting, as a tool to help in making a choice. There are times when trying a new one that I'm not real sure what the end result will be.
Again, great job on the OP knife!!
