Another Opportunity

Firstly, this knife has seen a lot of use. I suppose it is not highly collectible, due to its condition, condition, condition.

But, it was made between 1910 and 1916, +/- a hundred years ago.

It was made by Robeson.

It is marked Terrier, a scarce brand and hard to find any in nice condition.

Interesting that the Terrier dog's head logo is on the front of both blades and a stamp of
TERRIER / CUT. CO. / N. Y. CITY is on the back of both.

I'd have to dig my Terriers out of storage and take a look, but I don't think I've ever seen that exact stamp before, nor do I think I've seen the dog's head logo on the front of a master blade.

And, would you just look at that bone. Blow the pictures up and really look at that bone.

I love the way the shield is nestled into that deep groove. Perfectly placed.

There is a crack at the EZ Open notch, but..............

Mercy! That is pretty stuff.

Okay, I've looked.

I have knives that are simply marked, TERRIER.

Knives that are marked, TERRIER / CUTLERY.

Or, TERRIER / CUTLERY / ROCHESTER, N. Y., the most common stamp.

The smaller the knife, the less complex the stamp.

Some knives have a dog's head logo on the back of one blade. Some knives, not all, have a pattern number on the back of a blade, but not necessarily the master.

Some knives have no logo and no pattern number.

I have no knives with the logo on more than one blade and none with the logo on the front of the blade. I've never seen that.

And I've never seen that TERRIER / CUT. CO. / N. Y. CITY tang stamp, ever.

I don't really know what any of that means, but my suspicion is that it places the knife closer to 1910 than to 1916. Educated guess.

I may just have to bid on this one..................

But, don't let that stop you. You want it, go for it. I can easily be outbid.
