Re: Robeson Safety Award Knife
Nice one. The pattern is not uncommon, but finding one with an awardee's name on it is quite rare.
I don't think I've ever seen one with an employers ID on it.
Robeson made just about the same pattern for Traveler's Insurance with their advertising, logos on them.

Re: Robeson Safety Award Knife
It seems that B Nelson used that knife about as much as W Kordyzon used this one
Great solid knives, I would've been happy to have received one.

Re: Robeson Safety Award Knife
Charlie, did Robeson make these knives for any company that needed them for their safety program. I know you said they made knives for Traveler’s. A friend of mine thought many were made for Robeson employees. HaroldRobesonsRme.com wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2015 2:17 pm Nice one. Re: Robeson Safety Award Knife
Stockman and all: I posted this one a year or two ago. It's the exact same handle as Robeson's and stamped, 'CUTTER", U.S.A . (Levine lists CUTTER as having a "picture of a boat" from Thomas Ellin, Sheffield. 1784-1970. Mine has the boat picture but is stamped U.S.A.????) My blades are a little different but the bodies are identical. Wonder if those bodies were contracted from someone like Whitehead and Hoag? Interesting coincidence. I'm guessing the handles are some kind of nickel alloy, pretty weighty. Yours appears to have been plated or "washed" or maybe it's a different alloy.
Glad to have seen this post. Made me take it down off the wall and investigate a bit more.
J.O'.

Re: Robeson Safety Award Knife
No idea if these were ever used as an in-house Robeson safety award.
I’ve seen the handle shape with insurance logos other than Travelers.
Given the recent posting, I think the handles were supplied by another party.
W&H is a possibility, but I’m a little unsure how much actual manufacturing they did.

Re: Robeson Safety Award Knife
Agree RR. I should have said "like Whitehead &Hoag did." I don't think they made knives.
Hoped someone else has or knows of "CUTTTER". J.O'.
