Still kicken (and grinding).

Hey all,

I’m just checking in after a long hiatus from the knife world. I see a bunch of the “old guard” is still active and literally hundreds of new folks! Good job on the growth of the site! A number of talented knife makers have come and gone with a few still posting, it’ll be cool to get back in here and exchange notes. I could go on and on but I’ll keep it short. It’ll be nice to get reacquainted with old knife friends and hopefully make a couple of new ones.

I couldn’t possibly visit here without a picture or two! As I get back into the swing of things some of my very latest stuff is S30V stainless steel using the stock removal method (I still forge as well but my hammer is down now and my arm is to old) heat treated and tempered to 61-63 hardness. This stuff makes one hell of a cutting tool but is not near as tough as the tool steels I have used in the past.

Anyhow...........see ya around.

Thanks for the greetings and the compliments guys!

FRJ, that's exactly what that notch is for. Some folks like them, some don't. I find them very helpful.

Dean, I really haven't given it much thought........selling I mean. I guess I'm going to have to accept the fact that every knife is not going to be perfect and just sell them if someone is interested. If one in ten is "perfect" at this stage in my adventure........I'd be tickled. Shoot me an email I'll send ya some better pictures and a price. Thanks for the interest!

Hey Gary, Good to hear from you.... ::tu::...glad to see you making knives.

I like the grind on your longer blade...I'm guessing its a 4 to 5 inch, nice all around size.

Hope you haven't given up forging, I liked your knives with a little "Fowler" influence... ::tu::

Bob

Hey Bob!

The blade is about 5" long, probably 9.5 overall. I never measured it. Good to back here and in the shop! I'll still forge some later on, my hammer is down right now so I'm messing around with this stock removal. Good to hear from ya Bob!

Thanks Glenn.

It's a basic camp/hunter pattern, tapered tang, S30V stainless with maple burl handles (man that stuff is light!). I like the way the swedge cuts in there.......pretty cool. You never know exactly how a blade is going to turn out........little hiccups make you change direction sometimes.

8) Sorry I missed this thread! Hey Gary my Man, Glad you came back to the Fold! You have been gone a long time. If I recall correctly, you were feeling pretty bad about the loss of your Brother. Nice to see your knife work again! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::
