ok something is bothering me about this knife, I can't put my finger on it
Back of main blade is missing model numbers, but there is just something I feel is wrong



what do the pro's think

The knife looks right with the exception of the missing pattern number. I have seen USA model 93 patterns stamped very lightly but not without a pattern number. Quite possibly a lightly stamped 31093 blade with the number removed. I would like to see it first hand to be more sure. People will fake up anything they can get a buck out of.

This seller is a knife mechanic so anything is possible. But at worst as Wayne said its a cobbled knife made with all real Case parts.

Looks legit in the photos but I always suspect knives that that the pin is visible through the bolsters.

In addition to the pin's visibility and the lack of a pattern number, the shield appears to be an XX era style, with the tall "S". Of course, since only a year separated the two stampings there may well have been older shields still lying around but, all in all, there are a lot of anomalies with this knife.

In my opinion the blade was a 31093 USA with the back of the tang shaved down to eliminate the pattern number and then inserted into an xx era frame. I would guess that the original blade was broken. The tang shaved so as to make it look like an original USA era bone toothpick. Counterfeit!!!

Yeah, and probably our dear Republican Presidential candidate Rick Perry was the buyer. He knew there were three problems with the knife: no pattern number, visible pin --- forgot the third.
