Hukk, orvet said he thought this is a picture of you. You, of all people should know what happens when you fart in a wet suit.

Looks like an old rubber suit he has on. What happens when you fart in a wetsuit? BUBBLES

What happens when you pee in a wetsuit   You get warm!

Do not pee in a dry suit. I was wind surfing at Bodega Bay with an old girl friend 20 years ago or so, yep, that blonde peed in her drysuit.   I had to hang her upside down to drain.  Her first and last time in a drysuit.  She forgot that she was not in her wetsuit. ::doh::  Because I hung her upside down to drain, EVERYBODY KNEW! ::ds::

Thanks for the picture! ::nod::

Hukk wrote:What happens when you pee in a wetsuit   You get warm!

There is a name for this "warmth" that sometimes goes all the way to my chest ::paranoid::   It's called divers delight!   If you are in 48 to 52 degree water, the sudden surge of 98 degree warmth is appreciated, believe it or not.

Something to think about.

1. Drink coffee all the way up the coast, the sudden surge of warmth will smell like coffee.

2. DO NOT, under any circumstances, have asparagus for dinner the night before a dive. The asparagus odor is REAL BAD.

3. NEVER, EVER, go #2 in a wetsuit, you just lost every friend you ever had. I used to know someone that did this regularly ::barf:: ::barf:: GROSS. It's far better to swim to shore, ASAP, look around for other people after you are done. ACT INNOCENT, cause you know they race for the shore also.

4. Never wear panty hose under your wetsuit because someone says it's easier to get in and out of your wetsuit. I have seen this and think it must be an excuse to be a cross dresser. NO, I never tried this but saw a couple divers do this--cross dressing. ::doh:: ::disgust:: NO EXCUSES! ::disgust::  Yes up along the coast, I do believe I've seen everything, and I do mean everything. ::ds::

5. I NEVER, EVER, rent a wetsuit. I know what people do in them. ::barf:: ::doh::

Now you tell me!
Back in 1969 I used to rent Short Johns when I went surfing at Santa Cruz. (didn't realize it was someone's john)

Sorry Hukk, just HAD to do it! I, also, thank you for being a good sport about it. After all, if you can't laugh at yourself, who CAN you laugh at? I'd love to have been there, to see the look on your face when you saw it...

  Immediate laugh, likely with a foolish grin. I have seen it all   and sometimes things I wish I never saw.

Dale, now you know why they call it Short Johns for the shorties and farmer johns for the full length.

Let's see....................................................
because the Farmer Johns hold enough fertilizer to grow crops????!   ::barf:: ::dang::

  I once had the misfortune of taking a zodiac (trailerable inflatable with a 40 HP outboard in this case) with a couple divers I never dove with before. As one of them started to peel off his wetsuit, I noticed brown specks all over.  ::barf:: Fearing the worst, I asked what is that? Hearing the answer I feared (crapped in his wet suit, disgusted, I never heard of such a thing) I put on my dive gloves on and handed him a rope and said "hang on to that tight" and pushed him overboard. I dragged him through the water at trolling speed as he undressed from his wetsuit. Must of been hard as it took about 15 minutes, but at least he came aboard clean, chilled to the bone but cleaned. He was never back on my boat, his partner did and we dove many times, he was a good diver.

That had to of been the most disgusting thing I ever saw while diving. ::barf:: ::barf:: ::barf:: ::barf:: ::barf:: ::barf::

I suppose if a person became suddenly ill, it might be unavoidable, (remembering the Screaming Yellow S---- in Vietnam) but as a matter course........... ::barf:: ::barf:: ::barf::

The boat in the picture in the original post is what abalone and sea urchin boats look like. The first 2 letters of an urchin boat are SU, there is no longer a commercial abalone season. They have an onboard compressor to deliver air to the diver who wears a Hooka, essentially the hoses that come from a scuba tank only these divers use a long hose, no tanks needed.

Only Southern Californa had a commercial abalone season with a 1970's limit of 7 dozen that were sold at a price of $200.00 a dozen. $1,400.00 a day, every day, 8 months of the year. Can gross about $340,000.00 per year when houses were $30,000.00. The commercial season closed in 1997, doubt it will ever reopen in my life time.

BTW, Most people assume the tanks hold oxygen. NO! They hold air, pure oxygen at depth, at 2 atmospheres (33 ft, sea level is 1 atmosphere, every 33 ft is one more atmosphere) will KILL the diver. The first 33 ft are the most dangerous for a scuba diver, greatest rate of change.

OK, back to this guy, his buddy said he did it all the time ::barf:: ::disgust:: I dove with his buddy several years because he was a good diver. Really good freedivers are hard to find.
I hope I never see something like that again, he was clean & mad when I got done, but to cold to even move for a couple hours. Besides there was TP and other items in plastic containers on the zodiac - no excuse!

Hukk can you make one letter opener like this for me??

It would be some time, I'm still in a sling 23/7 (vs. 24/7 the first 5 weeks), even when I sleep and it's been 6 weeks since they basically rebuilt my right shoulder. 3x a day I can take the sling off for about 20 minutes and lay my right hand in my lap.

I'm just going nuts, looks like I may be back in the shop in September at the very earliest, and only part time. I am and will be MONTHS behind.

About all I can do at this time is to sand off some wood blocks that have been stabilized for inventory. Redo a voltage/color chart for annodizing titanium because of a new power supply. Dye some Mrytle deep red and blue to use as spacers after stabilization. Dye some Bird's Eye Maple light blue for an order I have. I dye the wood using a vaccuum pump to make the wood an even color through out. AND, I need my wife's help to do this. She's a good woman, I'm lucky!

Dr. said this is going to be real painful, number of pill bottles on my desk at this time..............................6! Guess he was right, I like to prove them wrong, no such luck this time.

The first week, I had a pump on my arm that put Novacain into the surgical site to help with pain as well as Percocet and Oxycontin ER pills to take every 4 hours. I am not taking those anymore, DANG, talk about being brain dead. ::yawn::

Hang in there buddy!
It will get better with time.

My doc is sending me to see the hand surgeon, my right hand no less. He is talking a couple different procedures on it. ::doh::

We should have timed them better, we could have kept each other company in our misery!

Hurry up & heal!

Thanks Dale! I might have them looking at my right hand also! Yes, when I was 17 and an amatuer boxer in the heavyweight division (201 lbs), I countered a stiff right hook by my southpaw opponent and planted an overhand right dead center in his chin. TRAIN WRECK! His head moving at me and my right heading for his chin greatly multiplied the impact, shattering his chin and my right hand. ::dang::

By a quirk of fate the bones in my hand did not break normally across the bone. After they cut the glove and tape from my hand I looked at my hand while one of my cornermen went to get my trainer. I saw 2 fingers shorter than they should be. Dumb, Dumb! I pulled the 2 fingers until I heard a loud click (adrenaline likely fueled the urge and deadend the pain). My 2 fingers broke behind the knuckle and inline with the bone, turning the bones into spears that did a lot of damage. After a week, I had bruising half way up my upper arm.

So a lot of calcium has built up, feels real odd to have the big knuckes that rub against each other.

Man thats got to make you feel bad.

(lay my right hand in my lap. I'm just going nuts).

Can not scrach your nuts in the morning.... ::shrug::

This would make any man MAD...

OK I can wait a long time for the letter opener.
I just wanted you to see it too.

Did you ever think of making one like that ?

It does not look like it would be real sturdy to me. It appears that it is from the heel area as we call it, a part of the shell we pick from rocky beaches after a winters storm. A shell is basically calcium carbonate (like you would find in cement) and organic matter.

I can make one fairly easy, it wouldn't take much time.
I just don't know how strong it would be.

Feels good to have a large backlog, had one before surgery and it's getting a bit longer. I'm thinking of getting a sewing machine for leather, all that hand stitching takes some time and I make a sheath for each fixed blade.

   I'm ambidextorous!

Still got my left hand.  Works TOO!

Ken, I don't know where you come up with this, I just woke up in a strange mood, I guess.

I can raise my right hand to shoulder level now after 7 weeks and that's it. They say I'm healing fast, but it's not fast enough for me. Almost 2 months and I still can't reach over and pick up a pencil. :x Getting impatient.

Thanks for the laugh! ::dang:: ::dang::
