It is it's a Schrade Walden NY 46-50 I take the pics with a IPhone so not the clearest images.

Who can't love an 881? They started out without a match strike pull, then used it for awhile, then abandoned it again. As far as that 1946 to 1950 tang-stamp goes, I have a Schrade Walden 256 that was probably made no earlier than 1952 and it also has that stamp. I doubt if any stamps were discarded until they were sufficiently worn. I suspect that some of the old Schrade Cutco stamps were used for a few days or weeks into 1947, after the Baer acquisition. Same thing with the changeover in 1973.

A style of their own those 881 boys....

Cal, I am sure you are right about that, that's one of many reasons it is so hard to date Schrade knives.
Besides we can be assured that they didn't throw away any blades they had already made and stamped before they introduced a new stamp. They used the blades until they were out of them!
