All About Pocket Knives

Ok, Pakistan knives are junk. But I bought one about 10 years ago at Knife-city in Tn. Hey I had to buy something! I was an OTR trucker then and kept it handy as a defense weapon since we weren't allowed to carry guns. (Yeah Right )

It's a good looking bowie knife w/a 7" blade that looks similiar to a Buck 119. Think I paid about $15. for it. Had it shapened at a truckstop knife shop and it feels pretty sharp. But I've never used it for anything.
Anyway, why is it that these are said to not hold an edge. From what I understand,, the difference is usually too hard, or too soft steel. Which is it w/a Pakistan knife.

The problem is that the steel in a Pakistan made knife may not even but cutlery grade steel, in fact it may even be construction steel. Who knows what they use? That is the problem, if they don't know what steel they are using, how can they properly heat treat it?

And I was sure they used recycled soda cans all along. You mean they actually use an iron product?
