I have this remington scout RS3333 it has the cutout in the frame for the early can opener but has the two piece opener. A variation maybe? Factory goof? Factory repair?

They were made that way early from the factory.

The can opener blade has been replaced , the horizontal lift tab can opener only came on the round shield Remington scouts .
