Gettin' a little primitive. This was a test to see if the steel quality was there and lacks my mark since it was a trial piece.

Yes, I was pleased with it. I left the tempering colors on the blade just because

I like tempering knives like this to right around spring consistency. It holds an edge well enough for skinning and general small cutting chores but is still easy to touch up in the field.

I prefer to have a knife that is reasonable to sharpen and springy as opposed to a harder blade. This is only 1/16" stock so if it is tempered too hard it will be more prone to breaking if put in a bind.

Nice color, and the long swedge looks purdy, too.

Did you do the heat treat by eye, just watching the color or did you get all scientific and use a thermometer?
