This for you to look at really I bought it with some of the others I’ve recently posted and I think it’s the best one but any comments are welcome. I have to say I was surprised to see “England” stamped on the back of the blade and not with the maker’s name. You should be able to see most of the tang stamps on the photos and I don’t need to make any reference.
The knife is big, about 8” when open and heavy must have had good pockets in them days. It lost its pick but still has the tweezes, though they try it escape when the lanyard ring is turned.

and as K7Knut said it would be great to find a pair of the tweezers to complete it many have the tweezers missing that I have seen on sale... but perhaps the same knife that has been abused and is sold as a parts knife may have one...

Cor so many lookers thanks for your comments.
As to its length closed its about 4”
Its lost its tooth pick not the tweezers and I’ve never seen any for sale, I have a bit of carbon steel and I think I might forge a new one. That could be fun?

Gerry, a similar pattern JR sold on ebay Ap. 1, just past. It was 3 3/8" and had a plain front bolster and Sheepsfoot master, but rest of blades/tools the same as yours. It too had "England" stamped in the same manner as yours.
I think these are from not too long after 1891 while still using blades made & marked before 1891.
This ebay knife would have made a nice pair with your JR Sportsman's knife.
I came in second in that auction. I have an exact match to it but in ivory. It is the knife shown on page 212, upper left of "Sheffield Exhibition Knives" by Wm. Claussen et al.
They would make a nice 'set' or pair.

I've just looked on eBay and yes it looks the same. The are few and far between in this condition now most of them have either blades broken or re-blades and not always for the correct maker. I saw one with a Richards of Sheffield blade and they never made a sportsman and the other blades were stamped "Encore".
