4 Dot 112 Ranger -Oddity!

Hey, All.
Has anyone come across a 4 dot 112 with small pins?
I found this one yesterday to add to my humble collection. Very clean, tight action, and hand-radiused.
I'll have to gather the 112s together for a group picture soon, for comparison's sake.
This one has a slimmer profile, like my early segua example, and others.
Regards

Wonder if it was re-bladed by Buck at some point in time? OH

OH,
It doesn't have the tapered scales & bolsters, characteristic of a rebladed Buck knife. (The sides are perfectly flat.) I wonder if Buck tried this on a limited run of 112s.
My biggest regret involves having my one and only micarta handled 112 rebladed by Buck. Although they did a decent job (it still opens very stiffly) I wish I had known beforehand that they would have to remove brass & micarta in the process.
Now I know... won't repeat that mistake.

Here's another picture showing detail of the pins. I included a "no dot" 2 pin for comparison.
Notice that they are all flush with the wood. I've never seen another like this. Weird, huh?

No, George. It hasn’t been sanded.
I still don’t know why it has pins like it does.

Howdy Bill, having ground down my share of bucks I'm going to say it's been sanded. the edges are radiused but look flat topped. someone probably wanted to clean up a heavily verdigrised knife. pete

The blade is four dots and the scale is three pin that looks sanded. Was going to say it is a two dot scale that was re-bladed back when with four dot blade. But if spring rivet is sanded flat (it does to me) it is a four dot that has been sanded. The radius edges can be found on four dot handles. Check out descriptions on 112 age chart in another forum........300Bucks
