Taylor LLc bought by Smith and Wesson for $85million

I know this is the Legacy Forum and we shouldn't care anything about Taylor llc but maybe a few Schrades will be made in the U.S.A. again.

I wouldn't expect much. Taylor is the importer/manufacturer for all of S&W's cutlery lines already, and none of that is work anyone's time and effort (just gas station quality blade-like objects)

Looks like Taylors profit margins are what is appealing to S&W so I wouldn't expect much change in the operation.

S&W probably has a bigger boat so they ship in more stuff from overseas.

Cash on hand, $85 million !
Wonder if it was in the top right hand drawer of the boss's desk ? Oh, maybe that is "petty cash" rather than "on hand" cash.
With my cash on hand i can buy 1 Taylor Schrade folding knife.

Every Taylor knife I own, from a 1980s Taylor "Bodyguard" balisong to a Taylor made Uncle Henry and Schrade, is nowhere near the quality of the old USA made Schrades.
All I care is that they quit treating the old Schrades as a budget line and start making them in the US. I don't understand how the heck they cost triple a Rough Rider made in the same darn country, but are worse made.

I wonder what this will really mean. SCHRADE was already starting to make fixed blades in 1095 .

Not sure if you all know, however, Schrade was having components made in China for the last 4-5 years they were in business. They would bring the parts to Ellenvile for the assembly. Some of the knives I am talking about are the Avatars, Badger, possibly the aluminum handled 7 OTX and a few others.
Just thought I would throw that out there!

This was also posted in BF some years ago. I think the paperwork from the auction was the source of this info. There also was the suggestion that towards The End the 7OTX and 6OTX were even assembled in China.
This helps explain why Mr. Taylor was able to bring out some made in China Schrades so soon after he acquired the rights. Contact with a Chinese manufacturer was already established and they had some Schrade parts already made.
