I would upgrade your characterization of the deal from "decent" to "gloriously fantastical". Great find. Love Schrades, love barlows. Keep an eye out for a 206 with the SCC tang stamp if you don't already have one.

I see NIB Schrade Barlows like yours selling on ebay for $50 and more, and some do go for less, but I would consider $50 to be the mark.

When did Schrade have these and what is the significance of the SCC?

The SCC stamp means it was made by Camillus.

Does anyone know when the Schrade 206 grand dad's barlows were manufactured?

In the research section for Schrades on this site the 206 is reputed to have been offered from 1976 through 1983. In Schrade's 70th year (from 1904) they offered an 8 OT with etch and milled liners. They did the same with a 34 OT and a barlow, and I am only assuming that those two were also released in 1974. This barlow was fancier, with the etch, milled liners and a 'racing' stripe down the side. In the early 1980s they offered a bone and stainless version as a Heritage version. And of course dozens of 'scrimshaws.' Not to be neglected are several versions offered from 1904 to 1946.

I picked up one of those, thinking I'd put new handle covers on it...but they grew on me. The knife takes an awesome edge! Quickly rose to one of my favorite users.

Nice grab to the both of you! I recently nabbed one for the same price. Mine was obviously a user, but has the SCC stamp. I saw someone mention that was Camillus made, but what years did that run?

I got this one a few years back off of eBay. I do not recall what I paid for it, but the pen blade was broken.
I only got around to repairing it this past weekend, and this one FOR SURE was made in the Schrade factory.
I discovered that it was fastened with a Swinden rivet, though only on the blade end.
I also discovered that I can make a fair approximation of a Swinden rivet by hand. It was probably not worth the effort, but I did it. Video proof will be posted over the next few weeks.
