Yes it is a very popular pattern and likewise common but not in the condition of yours with the full etch and box. Beautiful knife!

The plastic tube was used during the Schrade Walden era and afterward, probably into the early 1980s when the wood grain boxes came out.
The fact that your knife has the Schrade tang stamp (no Walden) indicates it was made after mid 1973.

I lurked here over the last year researching and learning before I started buying stuff... It looks like I've made a few good decisions. What's interesting, I tend to buy condition with box/paperwork or what I think is scarce... sometimes my hunches are right, sometimes they're not. ...but then I want some knives that I can actually carry and use, so then I look for good "users" at reasonable prices. I'm enjoying this!
