NKCA \ NKM knives and photos

Post by Rookie »

I don't think I ever showed a picture of my NKCA youth collection. I took them out today to oil them, and snapped a few shots of them. If anyone else has National Knife Collectors Association (NKCA) or any National Knife Museum (NKM) knives, feel free to show them here. I know both NKCA & NKM no longer exist, but it's important to realize what they did for the knife collecting hobby for nearly 40 years.

btw, I paid for the 2014 NKCA youth knife before the organization closed, and I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that it will arrive sometime at my door to complete the collection. :D

This is my collection of 1990-2013 youth knives, and then the commemorative and prototypes associated with them.

Here is a display of the NKCA yearly folding knives from 1975 to 1998, plus the 2012 and a couple of commeneratives. Finding a couple of NKCA knives at a gun show some years ago is what got me into collecting pocket knives. I put this simple display together for a local collector show a few years ago.
Rookie, just wanted to add that I have your NKCA website bookmarked, you have better photos of the NKCA knives than the NKCA ever had on their website.

Thanks Dan. Funny you said that. I actually did all the research and got all the knife photos for the NKCA, so that they could redo their own website to make it more helpful for the members. Then they never used any of the info/pictures that I supplied to them, so I created my own site and put the content there instead. I had already done all the work, so I just had to buy a domain name.

Great collection. I love how much variety the NKCA had in the yearly knives.

 Great thread. I carried one of my '78 Rodgers-Wolstenholm green canoes yesterday and today (I believe it was the first or second year of Schrade ownership). It's a little depressing to see a visual representation of just how many of the club and youth knives I'm still missing... but at least it'll give me some motivation. ::smirk::
