All About Pocket Knives

Does anyone know why about 80% to 90% of all vintage Remington sheath knives came with a left-handed sheath? I talked to D.Y. Grimm, who wrote the bible on Remington fixed blades (1000 first editions printed; no more forever; I have 2), and he had no idea. ???
My theory: They wanted us to carry a Remington hand gun on the right side, and crossdraw the knife on the left side. ???

Could be they wanted you to carry it on the right side(belt over the sheath)to keep it more secure and prevent the snap from being accidentally popped open rubbing against a branch or whatever. Then again maybe it was done to make it easier to get the blade edge up. I know a lot of makers used left hand sheaths.
