Thinking the same thing today Johnnie, I wonder what would happen if a nice American business or two would step up and announce to the world that they are fed up and going to make their product in the good ole USA....

Would we support them as a company even though it might cost a little more??? Would they sell enough if the Walmarts of the world tried to push their made in China products..???

Hmmm, so many questions. I think I will do my best to let my wallet dictate that I want to purchase items made in America that support Americans..

Just a thought..

Sad but true Johnnie and I'm not sure anything can be done about it now

Besides lead filled childrens toys we have Poison toothpaste, killer

cough-syrup, and tainted pet food. Which are just the tip of the disgusting

iceberg of yuck heading our way from China. Over the past four months,

the FDA has rejected 298 shipments from China that included "filthy"

fruits, cancer-causing shrimp, and "poisonous" swordfish. Since

we can't do anything about this flood of Chinese imports, the best Rule

of Thumb is "DON'T PUT ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA IN YOUR

MOUTH"

You guys got me fired up now If anybody wants my "CHINA" knives, just say so, and there yours. I only have 2, but i dont want them mixed in with my REAL knives EDIT: I already found someone on the forum to take them off my hands.

What really makes me mad is seeing made in china tags on American flags and Bibles. Owning a Bible would get you a jail sentence over there, but they'll sure make them and we are all too happy to buy them.

china has no regard for the health of it's citizens or the rest of the world. nissan has recalled tens of thousands of coffee mugs given out as promotions because of lead in the paint. mattel has another recall of toys manufactured in china.

what's next?

They don't care, and the consumers dont care or they wouldn't keep buying that "stuff"

it.s not the consumer's fault in most cases. we, in the u.s.a. expect our products to be safe. granted, educated consumers now know the extent of china's disregard, but until product flaws are discoveres they merrily continue to buy these products. i believe the blame is on the u.s. companys that contract from chinese companys knowing the problems involved and still chase that bottom line..$. there oughta be a law!(like that would stop them)

Quit shopping at Walmart and Target just to name a couple, and don't buy American products there either. They are a disgrace to the American worker, the wages they pay, the benefits they deny. These are but 2 companies that have DESTROYED the middle class Americans and have created a new class called the working poor.

Proof of entitlement mentality ... It's time again for the annual "Stella Awards"! For those unfamiliar
with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued the
McDonald's in New Mexico where she purchased the coffee. She took the lid off the coffee and put it between her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could get burned doing that, right?

That's right; these are awards for the most outlandish lawsuits and verdicts in the U.S. You know, the kinds of cases that make you scratch your head. So keep your head scratchier handy. Here are the Stella's for the past year:

7TH PLACE:
Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The store owners were understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son.

6TH PLACE:
Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles, California won $74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's hubcaps.

5TH PLACE:
Terrence Dickson, of Bristol, Pennsylvania, who was leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the garage. Unfortunately for Dickson, the automatic garage door opener malfunctioned and he could not get the garage door to open. Worse, he couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the garage to the house locked when Dickson pulled it shut. Forced to sit for eight, count 'em, EIGHT, days on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he sued the homeowner's insurance company claiming undue mental anguish. Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish.

4TH PLACE:
Jerry Williams, of Little Rock, Arkansas, garnered 4th Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500 plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next door neighbor's beagle - even though the beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as he asked for because the jury believed the beagle might have been provoked at the time of the butt bite because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly shot the dog with a pellet gun.

3RD PLACE:
Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania because a jury ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113,500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and broke her tailbone. The reason the soft drink was on the floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument. What ever happened to people being responsible for their own actions?

2ND PLACE:
Kara Walton, of Claymont, Delaware sued the owner of a night club in a nearby city because she fell from the bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two front teeth. Even though Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club had to pay her $12,000....plus dental expenses.

1ST PLACE:
This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who purchased a new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a andwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma jury awarded her $1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in case Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home.

Live worms found in Chinese chocolates

Think twice before biting into a chocolate to loose yourself in its taste - you might actually be chewing a wee bit more then you bargained for.

On Wednesday (August 29).. worms and moths crawled out of a box of chocolates imitating a popular international brand, and even a few larvae. But by the time this was noticed, a few chocolate balls had been consumed. The chocolates were picked up by a Korean consumer on his trip to China. But local manufactoring experts say it looks as though the contamination happened during the manufactoring process.

"It seems to be seriously contaminated during the manufacturing process since the larvae of Plodia Interpun were found," says Professor Ahn Young-chul at Eulji University.

Reports suggest that worms were found in some chocolates made in Korea as well. But the news about the 'China Chocolates' adds to the already-damaged "Made in China" brand.

An array of tainted Chinese products, including toxic toys, toxic toothpaste, inflammable clothes, poisoned pet food and contaminated medicine were discovered across the globe in recent months causing importers and consumers alike to question the quality of goods coming from China.

China, for it's part, dismisses the reports and defends the quality of its exports. The consumer who found worms in his chocolate said the Chinese manufacturer of the chocolate insisted he goes back to China with the product if he wanted any compensation.

WalMart has a chicken-$hit policy of working their employees just under the amount of hours required for them to qualify for medical insurance. I whole-heartedly agree about NOT shopping at WalMart. I swear on my grandchildren's heads, from this day forward, I will not spend ONE SINGLE CENT ON CHINESE MADE GOODS....from WalMart or anywhere else. PERIOD!

Noble indeed, DEWMAN, but it is going to be extremely difficult. I am still looking for a pair of American made sneakers. Does anyone here know of a brand?
