Japanese Switchblade used in Korean War

My grandfather purchased this knife while on leave in Japan around 1952. Interestingly he was never issued a pocket knife by the military, which is why he found this one. It opens by pulling the bail horizontally and releasing the blade held in by the tip and propelled out by a coil spring. I tried to show it as best I could in the photos. I also included one of the photos he took in Korea, he used the knife for adjusting the powder charges and opening the dozens of artillery containers shown scattered.
