Just standard drills. I stepped them up slowly. As you may have found out, they can tear up the hole really easy.

Yes, good call! That was my first try with the burlap. I wasn't sure how it was going to finish out, but it was decent to work with.

I don't have anything prepared for that, and to be honest, my prep for those is still a work in progress, LOL. I do use standard drills right now, and step them up little by little.

Yep I found that out. I was making my steps too big. When I changed tactics things got a lot better! I also had issues with the washer not seating right in the hole. Worked it all out though! Thanks Glen, I should have asked you about this first. Would have been less stressfull

I agree, the micarta looks nice on a sod buster.

I did a sod buster a while back and didn't posted in the forum.
I didn't use a birds eye rivet, I just used a cutlers rivet and inlet enough room for the head of the rivet to set down in the handle.
I had to modify the rivet shank and cut off the female end a little bit so it was the right length, but it went together with no problem.
Am I missing something?

He's referring to drilling out the spot for the rivet/birdseye head. Maybe we're making it more difficult, but it's easy to get blowout when drilling those holes.
