All About Pocket Knives

If it looks, feels and smells like a trapper it must be a "293WE 3-7/8″ Serpentine Jack; half saber clip & skinning blade with Wonda-Edge; bone stag handle; brass liners; N/S bolsters, caps & shield 1957 58-59 $3.95" . This was cut and pasted from Dales list of open stock knives in the research file.

Appears that this was an experiment for acceptance. With it only being produced for two or so years it was not received well. Any guesses as to how many were made, how many were sold and how many remain. I reckon what I am getting at is does short supply necessarily beget big bucks or does the rejection factor become part of the equation????? All answers, conjecture or conversation will be appreciated. Below are some photo's of one I purchased years ago. I remember the old fellow I got it from telling me to leave the note attached to it because it told how it was Peachseed bone and had his inventory number on it. He did not bother to mention that it was not a trapper or that it had a half saber grind on the clip or that the strange looking spey spear blade was actually a skinning blade with a Wonda Edge. He didn't even talk like an "Old Fart with a sense of Ironic humor". The brown stain on the bolster according to Dale is caused more than likely by the out gassing from a celluloid handle hiding somewhere in the knife pile.

I don't have anything helpful to add, but I do like it! Looks collectible to me.

I do believe that's a pretty rare bird. The bone looks a bit dry to me, do you know how it was stored all these years before you acquired it?

Our average here is between 60 and 75% Just about perfect for anything that does not rust. Laying on a piece of high density compressed foam in a five foot tall tool box, with about 1500 other cutters. I use to smoke cigars and it was nice to not need a humidor.

Moss, that would be collectible to me. I collect the wonda edge knives, but I don't think many do. I collect the pre-Swinden, pre-Delrin Schrades as well, so that knife would be a hit for me. Even though I am not big on trappers, the ones which qualify by aforementioned criteria might make it into my pile. Maybe even that one would! . Oh..., and

I'd definitely go for it. It would be more of an EDC for me. In a time where we do more driving than hunting the "Wonda-Edge" can come in very handy in emergency situations. It's the best of both worlds. It's an old school pocket knife with beautiful peach seed bone covers, a clip and a serrated edge blade great for cutting through seat belts, belts and other heavy materials much faster.
